learn how to say NO...

No and Yes....they play an equally important part in our lives.
With just 1 word as such, it could change you fate, your lives, you way of thinking, your decision making....
So, what i'm pondering now is......why can't people learn how to say no in the appropriate time, the appropriate situation?

when someone ask you to rob that old lady crossing that street, would you rush head on and do it without thinking? DUH, obviously, if you have conscience and moral values, you wouldn't hurt that poor old lady.
so, the answer here is No...

Now, where have i heard a certain story......let me try and relate it here.....
i believe the story below would ring many bells....LOL!
(please excuse my HORRIBLE grammar)

-----------------------------------------------
Once upon a time, there was a king who ALWAYS said yes....even to certain issues in his country, in which does not concern him, he'll say yes when his ministers asked him to intervene.
There was once that a neighboring country was in a war, and that he needed more people. Knowing it was a losing battle, that king still sent his men (in which he is already lack of in numbers) into that losing battle, causing many of his own soldiers to lose their lives in that hopeless battle.

Many scorned him for that, they hated their king, for he do not know the right time to say No.

Also, there was another time when his minister told him to store gold belonging to another country in his palace. Without hesitation, the king said....' LEAVE IT TO ME, MY MEN WILL HANDLE IT'

So as time goes by, one by one, the king's corrupted ministers started to ask the king to store goods that DOES NOT BELONG to his country........
His loyal advisors had already hinted and suggested to him not to do so, for it will be his cause of destruction. However, not only did the king not heed their advise, the king told his advisors to HELP the ministers store the goods and ordered the advisors to cease their selfish suggestions.

As time goes by, the neighbouring country started to realise that their goods, their poultry and valuables started to go missing and decrease. Then, only they realized that the king is storing the goods in his palace. When the neighbouring country's leader demanded an explaination, the king could not get the corrupted ministers to answer, much less own up their doing.

When the leaders of the neighbouring country wanted to attack the king's country, the king then turn to his loyal advisors and questioned them...

" Why didn't you stop me from storing those stolen goods?! You are all my advisors, you should be doing your job. You should be helping me to govern the country! Why didn't you execute your job properly!? Why did you neglect your job so!?"

Then, the advisors all answered.....

" We did advised and suggested....we have often hinted to you to say no to those corrupted ministers, but our advises and suggestion fell on deaf ears. Not only that, you ordered us to HELP the ministers too. We had no choice but to follow your orders, for we are only your loyal subjects. You said that by saying no to them, would made you look like a dictator in their eyes, and that they would abhore you, but little did you realise, they were taking advantage of your inability to say NO. "

Thus, the kingdom in which the king has ruled over for so long was attacked and the king fleed to a deserted village.
One day, the king saw a peasant boy and asked.....

"Would you be so kind to share some of that bread you have with me, for i have not eaten for 2 days already. Even the crumb would do "

The boy then answered.....

" NO, OF COURSE NOT, GET YOUR OWN BREAD......IF I GAVE YOU ONCE, THEN YOU WOULD COME AGAIN TOMORROW AND BEGGED FOR FOOD FROM ME. I WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT!"

Then, the boy stormed away, happily munching his bread, leaving the king with nothing in the end.

----------------------------------------
SO, the moral of the story is, learn how to say no at the appropriate time. Yes, you may look like a hero and everyone would adore you when you agree to them....But it will also backfire when others take advantage of that.

Aaaa....finally finished......
I hope this would serve as a reminder to all you out there who often say yes. I've always been a yes person........but being so has lead to many taking advantage of my kindness...
so, NO TO YOU GUYS......
