DaiCon report....Part 2

WEee....yes, this is the only event that i have in my blog that has a part 2...Well, partially because i have too much time at hand now.

Anyway, first off, in my previous post, i didn't touch much about the complaints....after a good night's sleep, my mind felt a little more refreshed, thus i shall now begin my report.

The Great Berlin Wall
Seriously, what's with that wall? It completely shuts off the paying fans from those who could'nt afford. I mean, come on, not everyone has the spending power to pay a hefty RM250 for a concert which had sucky sound system. Not that i'm complainning because i personally do not know and have not listened to any of Chihara Minorin's songs, much less her seiyuu-ed character.
But it was a real sad scene to see fans jumping up and down, using tripods and such to capture a glimpse of the ever HOO HAA Chihara Minorin. It reeks of unprofesionalism when they went the the lengths of using a white board to cover up the entrance of the 'great berlin wall' to prevent the event goers who didn't pay from seeing miss CM.

Booth Placement
on the other side of the berlin wall, there were doujin booths, which seemed like....disconnected from each other. Usually i'll hang around the doujin booths contemplating whether or not to buy anything.....but for this event, i just left...seriously, i just left....
The booths were all scattered around....no connectivity, no consistency...nothing!
Another thing was, i saw a booth selling photos of cosplayers...ok, i understand that it was with the consent of the cosplayer (as she was standing there, promoting her own photos)...but personally i feel, that clashes with the ethics of a cosplayer.
I just feel that, cosplaying is a fun hobby...you don't go commercializing yourself with photos on sale. Maybe if you promoted your cosplay album, then it would be a different thing entirely.

Photographers
RUDE, BRAINLESS, FUCKTARDs....yeah, those are the words that i'd like to describe them with. I do not want to repeat what i've said in my previous post, but yeah...photographers nowadays do not ask for permissions anymore. When they feel like sniping you, they would just do so...With no consent of the 'subject' being taken. They just feel that cosplayers are a bunch of subjects that has no emotions....they treat that said 'subject' as though they are 'things' instead of humans...
Put it this way, how would you like it, if i happened to take photo of you digging your nose during your convocation? It's the same thing....to us cosplayers, when we are cosplaying, we want to look our best....being captured at the moment when we look similar to the characters we're cosplaying.
So to those wannabe snipers out there, kindly ask for permission first before shooting us. We wont bite...
Those you approached us and asked for photos...i really really thank you from the bottom of my heart....your courtesy and willingness to wait for us pose is really really appreciated.Seriously, it means a lot to us. It may be a simple 'please' and 'thank you'...but it really puts a smile in our faces.

The Chihara Minorin Concert
Seriously, i feel it's a bad idea to put both ACG event and a concert together. To make things worse, they partitioned it into 2 sections. What about those who travelled all the way to the venue? (mind you, it's in Cyberjaya, where entertainment are nonexistent)
It's a good thing my brother didn't follow me there. Else it'll be the last event he'll attend.
Apart from that, i heard and read elsewhere that they shut the lights during the concert. Heck, hey...there are sponsors and booth aside from the ever HOO HAA concert. What about those who are commisioned to do drawings? what about those who are taking photos? what about those who are selling their doujins? Do remember that they are also your sponsors....
From the looks of it, it should be called ' THE MINORIN CONCERT' rather than 'DAICON'.

Though, apart from all that, the only thing that made me enjoy there was the surroundings for photoshoots. That's it....nothing attracted me much there. The only 2 things that i looked forward to when this event was approaching was the KKnM booth, and the photoshoot.

As for going back for a 2nd DaiCon (IF and only IF they have a 2nd one)...well, yeah, i'll still go back there....but only for a photoshoot there. That's it.
I wouldn't say i regretted going there, because i did have lots of fun during my photoshoots, but i feel the entire thing could be improved with more research and with a more humble approach.
(CANCEL THE BLOODY CONCERT FOR GOD'S SAKE! CF and GACC didn't have such 'attractions' but they managed to rake in SOOOOOOOOOOO many satisfied attendees)
