For Cosplay, For Passion

" If you think in rational terms, it's difficult to comprehend the motivation of the growing contingent of Cosplayers.
To get into costumes, and in so doing, allows their lives to revolve around what remains to be, an ostracized subculture.

They are not motivated by financial reward, of which there are little.
Perhaps not by fame, because that is limited as well.

Cosplayers are prepared to endure sacrifices of time and money, and even respect from their societies, to be part of something they consider larger than themselves, a community that shares in their passion, and a movement that brings color to the cultural landscape. "

This is quoted from a youtube video i saw regarding cosplays and cosplayers in Japan.
Somehow, i feel that Japan ISN'T really accepting this cosplay culture as well as that of America, Singapore and heck, even Malaysia.

In Malaysia (or the few mentioned countries above), we all are able to dress up and prep everything from our homes or hotels. Yes, we may get some weird stares but still people will know that it's Cosplaying (or rather, some costume parade LOL)

In Japan, they'll get weird stares and the police might even appear. I guess it's not really Cosplay Haven in Japan either.

But, Cosplaying, like what was quoted above, surpasses all and as long as there is passion, i feel that this Hobby will, in time, be accepted by the society.

To me, cosplay is a hobby, a method in life, for me to express myself. I admit, i AM an Otaku.
I do it mainly for passion, for the fun of it. (well, which explains why i NEVER enter any competition...i only helped out skits, but NEVER entered..LOL)
Yeah, if people acknowledge my efforts, that'd be a bonus...i'm already happy enough that event go-ers knows what character i'm cosplaying (shows that i didnt screw up..haha)

I have friends asking me when i'll quit this hobby of mine...Seriously, i simply don't know. I would go on with this hobby of mine until the day my flames of passion dies. (let's hope it's not in the near future)
The people i met, the friends i made, the experience i went through during my 6 years of cosplay is simply marvelous, exciting and well, doki doki~~! XD

So.......
For Cosplay, For Passion. *toast glass*

We are the passionate (aka crazy LOL) ppl who will wake up at 5.30am for photoshoots, endure ridiculously high heels for cosplays, roasted alive in leather outfits and go the distance for our hobby, our art, our way of live.... YEAH!
